In an interview on a late night talk show, American Sniper actor Bradley Cooper discussed his reaction to Republicans criticizing him for attending the Democratic National Convention.

The video was played in a Stephenville courtroom Thursday, the second day in the trial of Eddie Ray Routh, 27, the former Marine who admitted to the killings of Chad Littlefield and "American Sniper" Chris Kyle.

"We looked at hopefully igniting attention about the lack of care that goes to vets," Cooper said, citing that 22 veterans commit suicide every day, but that the conversations concerning controversy are drawing the focus away from that fact.

The film, now in post-production, stars Bradley Cooper as Kyle and is directed by Clint Eastwood. The film will depict Kyle's life in combat during his tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he earned the reputation for being "the most lethal sniper " in U.S. military history, as well as his life at home with his wife, Taya.
