When Baltimore mother, Toya Graham, saw her 16-year-old son, Michael Singleton, participating in this week’s riots, she snapped. She waled away on him, smacking him in the face several times as she yelled at him and pushed him out of the area. Multiple witnesses recorded the incident, which quickly made its way across social media.
The mother and son both spoke out recently, letting the world know what each of them were thinking when their paths crossed that day. And although emotions were inititally running high, the teen said on the long walk home he and his mother began to talk about what was happening. The teen knew he was in trouble, but in the end, he realized what he was doing was wrong.
“I understand how much my mother really cares about me,” he said. “So I’m just gonna try and do better.”
And as for his mom, she said it’s simple: “You’re just not gonna live like that. Not with me.”
