You have to see this great WWII gun chest made from scratch (10 PHOTOS)

A handyman with a stack of World War II keepsakes given to him by his grandfathers wanted a gun chest to store them in and, instead of buying some press-wood junk, built his own.

The chest is both secure and attractive. It is designed to look like a large rope-handled WWII era ammo box and is crafted with what looks like pine boards assembled with recessed screws and glue for strength. He stained the inside and touched up knots with black spray paint before sealing with polyurethane to give it a grimy, broke-in look while the outside is done in an olive drab complete with arsenal stencils.

The hinges and hasps were artificially aged with paint to look as if they had a patina of surface rust.

The rifles are a Mosin 91-30 (dig the bayonet, those sometimes cost more than the gun!) a sporterized Remington Model 1917, Remington Model 341, Mossberg .22 and Winchester Model 1894 cowboy gun.
