X-Rest Portable Shooting Rest Subject Of Live Webinar
Morrisville, NC –-(AmmoLand.com)- Collaborative product design and development firm Montie Design is hosting an engaging 45-minute live Web conference detailing the development and launch of their original product, the X-Rest portable shooting rest.
“From Concept to Market in Six Months and $6,000: A 45-minute Webinar Case Study in Product Design, Development, and Launch” will be presented live on April 22, 26 and 27. Hosted by Montie Roland, company president, the webinar will give members of the competitive and recreational shooting community details on the inspiration for this innovative product designed to meet the needs of many shooters and firearms, while providing entrepreneurs and engineers with insight into processes and capabilities required for bringing a new product to market.
“The scope of issues we had to manage in bringing the X-Rest from concept to market — including feedback we received from the shooting community — was broad,” Roland said. “We faced firsthand the start-to-finish steps of launching a new product on a limited budget and schedule, and learned lessons we can apply to helping our clients as they themselves walk this path.”
According to Roland, the Webinar is an opportunity to share what his company has learned with other members of the shooting community.
“There are lots are great products out there and hopefully these seminars will encourage other entrepreneurs to create the next wave of great shooting products,” he said.
Webinar registration is available online at https://montie.eventbrite.com/. There is no charge to attend, but each of the three sessions is limited to 24 participants.
Roland said the idea for the product came not only from personal experience but also from what he saw as the market prospects for such a product. Nationally, approximately 200 companies are actively involved in the U.S. firearms industry, combining for an annual revenue of $2 billion. In the Triangle region of North Carolina there are more than five shooting ranges and multiple firearms retailers, not to mention major chains selling guns and ammo to hunters and competitive shooters.
The easy-to-carry X-Rest weighs less than one pound and disassembles easily in three pieces, fitting neatly into a small carrying case. Made of sturdy yet lightweight aluminum, the X-Rest provides steady support for differently sized long guns, ranging from semi-automatic and bolt action rifles to shotguns, carbines and pistols.
Recently, Montie Design released a much anticipated upgrade to the popular X-Rest, the AR-Rest, a lightweight version which places the stock of the supported rifle approximately 9.5 inches from the top of the shooting surface, allowing proper clearance for firearms with high-capacity magazines.
Conceived as a “test” product to give Montie Design staff an understanding of the entire process of getting a product to market and enable them to apply lessons learned to their portion of the design and development process, the X-Rest has taken-off in popularity within the competitive and recreational shooting community and sparked interest on behalf of the Research Triangle Park design community. Montie Design’s first “test” product, an innovative radio frequency identification (RFID) detector card released in January 2009, is now being sold throughout the U.S. and seven foreign countries.
