Laramie, WY -(AmmoLand.com)- Had someone asked four years ago the connection between the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Wyoming Women’s Foundation (WYWF) there would have been little.
Since that time though, WYWF created the Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt, and RMEF has proven to be a wonderful supporter of the event. RMEF understands the role hunting plays in conservation and is pleased that WYWF is supporting women interested in hunting.
“The RMEF is pleased to once again support the Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt,” says Jill Tonn, Senior Regional Director of RMEF. “Women are playing an ever-increasing role in the hunting and conservation arenas. We wish all the participants the best of luck and hope the women continue hunting.”
The annual women’s event was created to promote camaraderie and mentorship for women through hunting, with the goal of raising awareness and funds for the Foundation. In just two years the event has raised more than $120,000, impacting grant-making and special projects that improve the economic self-sufficiency of women and the future of girls across the state.
The Wyoming Women’s Foundation is grateful to have support from such an outstanding organization.
“Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is known, not just for its conservation of elk, but also its stewardship of lands and habitat, which is incredibly important to hunting and to Wyoming,” says Sarah McCance, WYWF Director. “An important part of what we do at the hunt is promote hunting ethics and conservation practices.”
The Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt was created in 2013 and has proven a huge success! Hunters from across the nation participate, including prominent leaders like retired Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Kite, who helped found the hunt. This year the hunt will welcome host of Skull Bound TV, Jana Waller and State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow as its special guests.
The hunt will take place Oct. 8-11, with a dinner and silent auction to benefit the Wyoming Women’s Foundation on Friday, Oct. 9th. Tickets to Friday night’s dinner can be purchased at http://wyomingwomensantelopehunt.org/auction-dinner/.
