A 23-year-old man got quite a surprise over the weekend when he attempted to rob a woman at gunpoint in a Chicago neighborhood, only to have that woman take his gun and shoot him in the hand.
Dennis Evans was caught by police, who quickly identified him by his bleeding hand, shortly after the robbery gone wrong. He faces felony charges for attempted murder and robbery.
Police say the crime unfolded around 6:15 a.m. when Evans approached a woman and demanded items from her at gunpoint. The woman, however, wasn’t willing to become a victim and wrestled the gun away from Evans before shooting him in the hand.
Evans promptly ran away but was apprehended soon thereafter. He remains in jail and was denied bond.
The woman was uninjured.
