WESTWOOD, Mass. –-(Ammoland.com)- Deb Ferns was 45 years old when she first shot a gun. She was a novice shooter in 2004, when Lisa Munson invited her to attend a women’s shooting instruction class in Louisiana, taught by Kay Clark.
After a successful weekend of women teaching women to shoot in a supportive environment, the three ladies decided to offer similar camps at other locations across the country. The Babes with Bullets firearms academy was born. More than a dozen years later, with over 5,200 alumnae, Babes with Bullets camps continue to grow in popularity, and the organization has expanded its programming to include many new events and activities.
“Babes with Bullets is the only U.S. traveling firearms academy to offer handgun and rifle training to women at all levels,” Ferns explains. “Our camps are taught by an all-female team of national and world shooting sports champions, and are designed to teach women to safely and confidently handle and operate a firearm in an informal camp atmosphere.”
Babes with Bullets’ unique programming and steadily growing participation have quickly caught the attention of the shooting sports industry, including Howard Leight by Honeywell, a leading provider of top-quality hearing and eye protection.
“Enjoying the shooting sports safely is a key educational component of every Babes with Bullets camp and event,” says Mercedes Sune-Weaver, Product Manager for Howard Leight by Honeywell. “Their unique approach to training and outreach is a perfect fit for our brand, which exists to help all people to safely enjoy the activities they love. We’re pleased to support Babes with Bullets to help educate and promote safety and responsibility in shooting sports.”
Babes with Bullets has six upcoming camps planned for the remainder of 2018.
