Myrtle Beach authorities are searching for a woman who robbed two hotels at gunpoint within minutes of each other over the weekend. They hope images captured on surveillance video will help to identify the woman, who wore no disguise or otherwise attempted to hide her identity in any way.
“Someone who commits such a brazen act such as a violence act like this need to be apprehended,” said Myrtle Beach Police Department Capt. Joey Crosby. “This individual walks into to two establishments with no disguise, nothing, and commits these acts of violence.”
No one was injured during either robbery, but the suspect walked away with more than $600 collectively.
The first incident unfolded around 2 a.m. Sunday at the Ocean Dunes Resort, but as officers were responding to a call about that robbery, a second call came in about an armed robbery at a nearby Best Western.
The clerk, who had only worked at the resort for about a month, said she walked into the lobby and asked about a room before pulling a gun out of her shorts and demanding cash. He said after she pulled the gun, she was only there maybe 20 seconds.
“I was more shocked at how big the gun was she had,” said the employee, who did not want to be identified. “Honestly, it was a hand cannon and she pulled it out of her shorts. I didn’t even see it in there and she just said, ‘Give me the money.’”
The woman is believed to be driving a light-colored four-door sedan with a missing hubcap on the front passenger side.
Anyone with information is asked to call Myrtle Beach police at (843) 918-1382 or Det. Angel Walker at (843) 918-1906.
