A 38-year-old woman was found shot right outside the back door of a Knoxville, Tennessee, home early Friday morning, but authorities say the shooting was justified.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, Stacie Mundy was trying to force her way into the home around 5:30 a.m. when the male homeowner shot her at least once. Police say Mundy was acquainted with one of the residents.
When officers arrived on the scene, Mundy was lying on the ground. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The homeowner and several residents were taken into custody for questioning but later released. The District Attorney General’s Office reviewed the case and determined that the shooting was justified.
Reports show Mundy had a prior criminal record that included charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacturing, delivery, sale and possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and Xanax.
