Wisconsin Carry Legislative Initiative: School Grounds Carry

Armed Teacher
In Wisconsin concealed carry holders risk a felony conviction if they pickup their children while armed. Mean while in Israel an Armed Teacher watches over the children with a high power rifle.

Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- Greetings in Freedom,

Approximately a quarter million (234,500 as of last week) law-abiding Wisconsin residents have jumped through hoops the constitution never intended, and obtained their Wisconsin Concealed Carry License so they can protect themselves, and their family.

Aside from the offensive nature of having to ask government permission, pay a tax, and register with the state, to exercise a right the constitution said “shall not be infringed”, there are some other onerous land-mines here in Wisconsin that the concealed carry law imposes on lawful carriers.

It is currently a felony to carry a firearm onto school grounds.

This means when moms, dads, grandparents, relatives, guardians, go to pick up or drop off their kids at schools their tax dollars pay for, they are committing a felony if they don’t stop, unload, and encase their gun before they so much as drive around the school drop-off.  This is just wrong.

We know lunatic killers have selected schools as their easy target to inflict mass casualties on defenseless victims.  Prohibiting moms and dads and other law abiding carriers from being armed when they pick up their kids from school is not just dangerous, its immoral.  Its immoral for a government ‘of the people’ who’s salaries are paid by your tax dollars, to tell you, as a parent, or guardian, you have to disarm before you pick up your own kids from schools your tax dollars built.  Its immoral that if you forget to stop, unload, and encase your gun before you so much as drive onto a school parking lot, you are committing a felony.

In late 2010 and early 2011 Wisconsin Carry (along with our friends at the USCCA) initiated a massive legislative initiative to push “constitutional carry”.  Our initiative was so successful we were able to get a constitutional carry bill authored, introduced, out of committee, and to the floor of the Senate before it was amended to a shall-issue permit system.  Wisconsin Carry, and our passionate members pushed constitutional carry further than anyone would have predicted it would go.

This past weekend, I introduced new legislative initiative that Wisconsin Carry will undertake on my radio show “Well Armed Radio”.  This is the largest initiative we have undertaken since constitutional carry.  Please listen below.  I will be sending out emails in the upcoming weeks with our strategy, opportunities for our membership to get involved with grass-roots legislative activism, and other information to advance this much needed legislative change in Wisconsin.

Please take the opportunity to get involved with this important initiative.  The potential to be charged with a felony for something as innocuous as picking up your kids from school armed is one of the biggest faults with Wisconsin’s concealed carry law.  Its time to let our legislators know “we the people” deserve better than to risk a felony for exercising our lawful right to carry.

About:
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the rights of law-abiding Wisconsin residents to carry in the manner of their choosing. We believe that “open carry” and “concealed carry” are choices to be made by law-abiding citizens based on their situation and preference. Wisconsin Carry, like many gun-rights organizations in Wisconsin, is investing a great deal of resources to get Wisconsin law changed to allow concealed carry this next legislative session by proposing Constitutional Carry. Wisconsin Carry, Inc. will continue to use legal recourse to deter unlawful treatment of law-abiding Wisconsin residents who currently exercise their right to open carry, and soon will exercise their right to concealed carry in Wisconsin.
