Wisconsin Bill 9, Allowing CCL Holders To Carry Guns On School Grounds is Up For Vote

Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- Assembly Bill 9 is back on the calendar for this Thursday.

Amendment 1 to Assembly Bill 9 would allow concealed carry license holders to carry on school grounds.

Speaking to a legislator last week I was told there were NOT currently enough votes in the committee to pass Amendment 1. If it is to pass, YOU must pick up the phone and call or email these legislators immediately.

Right now 200,000 law abiding citizens of Wisconsin who jumped through hoops, took mandatory training, paid the state license tax, submitted an application and got recorded in a government database in order to protect themselves and their families by carrying a sidearm, STILL risk potential felony charges if they accidentally carry their gun on school grounds when they go to pick up their kids form school.

We also believe that make-believe “gun free zones” which currently include school grounds and school buildings create “target rich environments” for lunatics. We believe its morally wrong for the government to compel us to fund our local schools through or property taxes, and then turn around and deny us our constitutionally guaranteed right to self-defense in those very same schools “we the people” paid for. “Gun free zones” and “No guns” signs are political signs only. They protect no one, only promote anti-gun anti-rights agendas.

We need 5 “yes” votes to Amendment 1.

Here are the members of the committee that is hearing this bill:(see link)

  • Rep.Spiros@legis.wisconsin.gov Rep. John Spiros (Marshfield)(888) 534-0086
  • Rep.Jacque@legis.wisconsin.gov Rep. Andre Jacque (DePere)(888) 534-0002
  • Rep.OttJ@legis.wisconsin.gov Rep. Jim Ott (Mequon) (888) 534-0023
  • Rep.Severson@legis.wisconsin.gov Rep. Erik Severson (Star Prairie) (888) 529-0028
  • Rep.Bies@legis.wisconsin.gov Rep. Garey Bies (Sister Bay) (888) 482-0001

PLEASE politely reach out to each of these representatives. Let them know the 2nd Amendment DOES NOT end at the edge of school property. Let them know that YOU as a law-abiding tax-paying citizen should not be exposed to a felony when you pick up your kids from school.

Tell them that kids are around concealed carry guns every day at stores, restaurants, malls, parks, and walking on the street. GUNS SAVE LIVES and lunatics ignore “no guns” signs.

About:
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the rights of law-abiding Wisconsin residents to carry in the manner of their choosing. We believe that “open carry” and “concealed carry” are choices to be made by law-abiding citizens based on their situation and preference. Wisconsin Carry, like many gun-rights organizations in Wisconsin, is investing a great deal of resources to get Wisconsin law changed to allow concealed carry this next legislative session by proposing Constitutional Carry. Wisconsin Carry, Inc. will continue to use legal recourse to deter unlawful treatment of law-abiding Wisconsin residents who currently exercise their right to open carry, and soon will exercise their right to concealed carry in Wisconsin.
