Hypocrisy knows no bounds in the City of Racine.

Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- On Feb. 20th 2013 an ordinance banning concealed carry in Racine Wisconsin City Buildings was approved in committee by an 8-2 vote.

This past Tuesday on a unanimous 13-0 vote, Racine Alderman approved an amendment to the ordinance that would EXEMPT elected officials from the ban. How nice it must be to be a member of the ruling class. Passing laws that apply to everyone else.

The ordinance will go to the full council for a vote on Wednesday April 3rd. Wisconsin Carry members as well as the general public will be showing up in numbers to pack the meeting and express their disapproval of this elitist governance by Racine Alderman.

We encourage all Racine area citizens to attend the meeting and let the City Council know that they are not a privileged ruling class and they should have to abide the laws they pass for everyone else. We also encourage SE Wisconsin media to cover this council meeting.

“Gun Free Zones” create opportunities for lunatic shooters to carry out suicidal rampages on defenseless citizens. They also notify criminals that anyone going to or from these “gun free zones” is unarmed and is an easy target for an assault or robbery. The law-abiding respect the rules and leave their legally carried guns in the car or at home, and deranged individuals ignore silly “no guns” signs to inflict mass casualties where no one can stop them.

In this linked article, Racine Alderman Greg Helding demonstrates the selfish perspective of all too many elected officials:

“We are the one (group of people affected by the ban) who publicly announce ahead of time when and where we will be in a completely unguarded and publicly accessible place,” he said.

— Clearly Alderman Helding recognizes the silly “no guns” signs on the doors will not stop a lunatic with a gun…

Unfortunately Mr. Helding and the other Alderman have not thought past their own self interests to consider that BECAUSE OF HIS PROPOSED BAN every person who steps in a City of Racine building will be prevented from protecting themselves. While elected officials will have the means to protect themselves when a criminal ignores the “no guns” sign, an innocent woman who may, for example be visiting the city library will be helplessly unarmed if she were to be assaulted while in, or walking to, or from the library to her home/car.

Carry On!

About:
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the rights of law-abiding Wisconsin residents to carry in the manner of their choosing. We believe that “open carry” and “concealed carry” are choices to be made by law-abiding citizens based on their situation and preference. Wisconsin Carry, like many gun-rights organizations in Wisconsin, is investing a great deal of resources to get Wisconsin law changed to allow concealed carry this next legislative session by proposing Constitutional Carry. Wisconsin Carry, Inc. will continue to use legal recourse to deter unlawful treatment of law-abiding Wisconsin residents who currently exercise their right to open carry, and soon will exercise their right to concealed carry in Wisconsin.
