Wilson Combat drops a snazzy, new 1911 chambered in both .45 ACP and 9mm designed by firearms trainer and small-arms consultant Ken Hackathorn.
Hackathorn drew upon decades of experience in the gun industry as well as his own personal collection of custom handguns to develop the Hackathorn Special Commander.
Geared towards the needs of concealed carry enthusiasts, the pistol features a shorter 4.25-inch bushing barrel and full-size frame measuring 7.85-inches in length.Hackathorn personally selected the one piece Bullet Proof magwell, concealment hammer/grip safety and medium-length trigger which all come standard on the Special Commander. Wilson Combat says since the model sports Hackathorn’s custom option, allowable upgrades are few with shooters only able to opt for an ambidextrous safety, choice of front sight and deluxe hand-polish blued finish.
“The Hackathorn Special in ‘Commander Mode’ is ideal as an everyday packing pistol. My lightweight version in 9X19mm is a regular companion for me,” Ken Hackathorn said in a statement.
Each pistol is equipped with Hackathorn’s signature on the slide and a hefty price tag of $3,7500.
