USA -(Ammoland.com)- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources invites hunters to stop by a Cabela’s on the way home from their hunting adventures, or swing by on their way to do some shopping, and have their deer checked at a DNR check station.

The Cabela’s Saginaw Store check station, located at 5202 Bay Road in Saginaw, will be open Nov. 16-20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Cabela’s of Dundee check station, located at 110 Cabela Blvd. East in Dundee, will be open the following dates and times:

  • Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Nov. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Nov. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Cabela’s of Grandville check station, located at 3000 44th St. SW in Grandville, will be open Nov. 15 from noon until dusk.

Hunters will receive a deer cooperator patch in exchange for checking their deer. A deer head (antlers must still be attached on bucks) or entire carcass must be presented to receive a patch.

The DNR encourages hunters to submit deer heads for testing in the upcoming deer hunting seasons. Test results help the DNR determine the extent of diseases such as chronic wasting disease and bovine tuberculosis.
