Virginia – -(AmmoLand.com)- Looks like Moms Demand Action (MDA) pulled a fast one on Chipotle and got Chipotle lined up to do a fundraiser for MDA. But there was one problem: Virginia Citizens Defense League activism!
The fundraiser was posted on Virginia Citizens Defense League’s Facebook page and people began writing emails to Chipotle protesting the fundraiser.
I sent this email yesterday on behalf of Virginia Citizens Defense League:
I am extremely disappointed in Chipotle raising money for the gun-control group Moms Demand Action.
Our right to self-defense is a basic civil right and Chipotle is now actively working to damage that right.
Why would any business open to the public wish to alienate the huge number of law-abiding gun owners in this country? As president of large (30,000) member gun organization, I will be encouraging our members to avoid eating at Chipotle for the foreseeable future.
Why would we spend money that will be used to diminish our right to self-defense?
I was originally going to put an ACTION ITEM in this alert to get everyone on VA-ALERT to contact Chipotle, but it turns out it wasn’t needed. They responded quickly, politely, and firmly this morning:
Unfortunately, this event was approved in error and does not meet our fundraising eligibility requirements, and therefore has been cancelled. We do not provide charitable support for organizations in the following categories: Individuals (scholarships, stipends, fellowships, personal assistance); For-profit ventures; Religious groups for religious purposes; Capital campaigns, endowment funds or memorials; Lobbying, political or fraternal activities; and Individual study, research or travel grants.
This voicemail sounds like it was indeed Virginia Citizens Defense League’s actions that brought this to a head. The Chipotle representative accidentally refers to MDA as “Moms on Demand.” ROFLMAO!!!!
Anyway, Chipotle took ownership of that mistake and did the right thing. This is not the first time that MDA has pressured Chipotle. Some years ago MDA got Chipotle to make a statement that they prefer that customers don’t bring gun in the store. That was, of course, a nothing burger since it was merely a preference and not a policy. My preference is to carry. I voted on it and my preference to carry won over their preference that I didn’t carry 1 to 0.
And Moms Demand Action is undoubtedly quoting a cartoon villain about this time: “Curses, foiled again!”
