Sam Scarmardo, the operator of the machine gun range in Nevada where an instructor was killed when a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot him in the head with an Uzi, appeared on the show “All In With Chris Hayes” to discuss the Arizona range’s policy on age limits.
The accidental shooting, which was caught on tape, happened on the morning of Aug. 25, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
At the time of the incident, the instructor, Charles Vacca, 39, was standing beside the girl, instructing her on how to use the submachine gun. Investigators deduced that the young girl failed to manage the recoil and the gun went over her head and Vacca was shot.
Scarmondo said the range, Bullets and Burgers, will continue to operate in the future despite all the attention and criticism.
