USA Shooting Skeet Team Wins Gold At World Cup In Concepcion, Chile & Ties World Record

Concepcion, Chile  – -(Ammoland.com)- The USA Shooting Men’s Skeet Team comprised of Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, GA), Jon Michael McGrath, (Tulsa, OK) and Frank Thompson (Alliance, NE) tied the World Record in Men’s Skeet today while capturing the gold medal for the United States at The World Cup held in Concepcion, Chile.

Out of a possible 125 targets, Thompson finished with a competition score of 123, Hancock with 122 and McGrath with 121 posting a combined score of 366/375.The United States owns the World Record set in 2009 at the World Championship in Maribor, Slovenia.

The USA team finished just short of individual medals. The USA Shooting Team has the youngest men’s team competing in the ISSF World Cup Series and at the World Clay Target Championships in Belgrade, Serbia later this year.

Vincent Hancock is the 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist at the Beijing Olympic Games and Jon Michael McGrath is the 2010 World Champion in Men’s Junior Skeet in Munich. Both were former Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Champions, and SCTP is the Official Clay Target Youth Development Program of USA Shooting.

The USA Team returns home for a few days before traveling to the next stop in the World Cup series March 22 – Aprl 1, 2011 in Sydney, Australia. The Sydney World Cup has 64 nations represented with 721 competitors in the Olympic sports of rifle, pistol and shotgun.
