USA -(Ammoland.com)- Traditional grizzly bear hunting is being banned in British Columbia, Canada because of politics and not sound science.
In a convoluted scheme, the traditional hunting of grizzlies will end in at least one area and be significantly curtailed elsewhere.
Hunters: Do you want to help save hunting? There are several things you can do in the next five minutes and they won’t cost you a dime.

At the Vancouver Sun website, take the survey that has shown an almost even split, but hunters have not weighed-in significantly yet.
Send the links to your friends and fellow hunters and ask them to unite in our cause. Together, we’ll make a difference. You can make a difference.
Also, tell your friends and fellow hunters about some of the things hunters are doing on the grizzly bear front.
SCI Foundation funds an ongoing research project by the University of Alberta in the South Rockies and Flathead study areas, a region with significant bear mortality from human conflict. The project suggests that, rather than banning hunting outright, management actions such as increasing public safety standards in backcountry camps or closing roads in high grizzly density areas would be effective. Results will be important for the future of grizzly bear management across North America.
Grizzly bear numbers are stable in most of their range in Canada. There are an estimated 15,000 grizzlies in BC, approximately half of Canada’s total population. Harvest rates are highly regulated and conservative, at a sustainable 2 percent.
