The MCCSC is a Combat/3Gun style rifle/pistol match consisting of eight courses of fire that stressed all fundamental skills of weapons handling, accuracy and physical agility as the 65 Cadets and Midshipmen participating where forced to negotiate obstacles, walls and barbed wire in addition to engaging paper and reactive targets.
The match concluded with a formal banquet and awards ceremony attended by all participants at the National Infantry Museum.
The match was also attended by a production team from Shooting USA to produce a program about the event and the institutions attending.
The Cadets of the CCMU fired ammunition manufactured by Houston based Freedom Munitions through the outstanding piston driven Adams Arms COR rifle, each fitted with an EOTech XPS gunsight provided to the team by EOTech. The rifle, ammo and optic combination functioned flawlessly even in the near constant downpour of rain at the match and the Georgia mud and grime the rain produced. CCMU cadets all fired Glock 34 pistols fitted with APEX extractors and TRUGLO TFX sights. Magazines used were provided by Magpul including 25 of their brand new 17 round GL9 Glock pistol mags.
Most importantly the CCMU thanks California based Ares Armor for the innovative molle gear and mag retention equipment they worked around the clock to design and build to allow the CCMU cadets to manage their equipment and shoot while moving swiftly and confidently over and through obstacles.
The CCMU trains and competes in action shooting sports with other college teams and at 3Gun matches around the country, but it also works to grow participation in the shooting sports at all ages and among both men and women. The CCMU is very grateful to its industry sponsors for their support of this team and its activities both on and off the range. The cadets of the CCMU want to recognize all of the companies large and small who graciously sponsor the team for their continued support and also the team’s primary equipment sponsors Adams Arms, Ares Armor, Freedom Munitions, First Command, TRUGLO, Apex Tactical, GT Distributors and Glock for the cutting edge gear they provide. Please take a moment to visit the Sponsor page on the CCMU web page and Thank these businesses for their support of our future officers with business of your own.
The CCMU was officially formed in January of 2012, but today’s squad represents the latest in over 100 years of history of marksmanship teams competing for the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. The CCMU fields competitors in the action pistol sports, steel pistol sports, 3Gun and international trap and skeet. Team members are drawn exclusively from the 2,600 men and women of the Corps of Cadets who are all undergraduates at Texas A&M. Scholarships and in-state tuition are also available for CCMU cadets. The cadets of the CCMU are supported and funded through the Office of the Commandant of the Corps of Cadets, and the generous efforts of the Corps of Cadets Association ( https://www.corpsofcadets.org ) a private non-profit group committed to sustaining the 138 year old traditions of the Cadet Corps at Texas A&M.
