Two Nebraska Hunter Education Instructors Receive Instructor of Year Awards

LINCOLN, Neb. – -(AmmoLand.com)- Two volunteer hunter education instructors have been named 2008’s Instructor of the Year in separate categories, according to Mike Streeter, hunter education coordinator for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

John Elliott, of Lincoln, was presented the Metro Area Instructor of the Year award at a Feb. 28 bowhunter education in-service training program at the 4-H camp near Gretna. Streeter said Elliott was a leader in providing bowhunter education in Lancaster County, a leader of mentored youth deer hunting in eastern Nebraska, and a leader in the National Archery in the Schools Program. He was also instrumental in the creation and operation of Lincoln’s Helen Bosalis Archery Range.

Streeter identified Daniel Anderson, of Hemingford, as Master Instructor of the Year and said Anderson will be honored at a later date. Anderson is a Master Instructor and has been extremely instrumental in improving training for all hunter education volunteer instructors on the safe use of elevated hunting stands and related equipment, and has been a leader of this effort in the Panhandle,” Streeter said. “He is also a leader in educating children in the knowledge and skills of the safe use of archery equipment.”

“Through outstanding efforts and leadership, each of these individuals exhibited their high degree of dedication to the program in 2008,” Streeter said.
