An investigation is underway after two Navy SEALS were discovered unresponsive at the bottom of a training pool in Virginia.
Faculty discovered Special Warfare Operator 1st Class (SEAL) Brett Allen Marihugh, 34, and SO1 (SEAL) Seth Lewis Friday afternoon. Both were transported to the hospital, where Lewis died a short time later and Marihugh died Sunday. An autopsy revealed that both men died of accidental drowning.
Navy officials confirmed that the two men were utilizing the pool on their own time and neither men were diving or appeared to be using any type of equipment.
Marihugh served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003. He joined the Navy in 2006 and completed basic underwater demolition/SEAL training the following year before moving on to advanced training.
The investigation is ongoing.
