New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- The real estate crash in 2008 sent folks in different directions, but none perhaps quite as different as Logan Parker, who lost everything and is now learning to rely only on himself.
With his new-found philosophy of unplugging from the system that failed him, tune in to see Parker’s prototype, off-grid straw bale house in this week’s episode of America Unplugged, exclusively on Sportsman Channel on Thurs., June 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
After short-selling his home and returning to his native North Carolina, Parker lived off odd jobs until finally purchasing five acres of land that he’s now turned into a complete self-sustaining farm.
“I fear that the system we know where we all plug in, flip a switch and the light comes on, or we open the fridge and we have our food right there – I think that’s all coming to an end relatively soon,” said Parker. “It’s not too difficult to take steps to live off the grid.”
Parker should know – he lived in a tent for nearly a year while building his prototype off-grid structure made with straw bales, which will eventually house livestock and a fully-functioning hydroponic garden. Parker also discusses his doomsday plan as viewers meet fellow members of his community, including his girlfriend, who owns an organic vegetable farm.
Over the eight-week series, former U.S. Navy SEAL/Sniper Cade Courtley highlights unique and fascinating stories of those who have ‘pulled the plug.’ Courtley’s goal is to become the “American face of survival.” The former U.S. Navy SEAL/Sniper and Security Contractor has spent more than 15 years in some of the most hostile places on the planet and has produced/written/acted/hosted/consulted for successful Hollywood films and television shows, as well as authored the 2012 book: “A Navy SEAL’s Secrets to Surviving Any Disaster.”
The host will share his unique experiences and add perspective as to why many Americans are living off the grid. Sportsman Channel is partnering with A. Smith & Co. Productions’ executive producers Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Frank Sinton and Michael Braverman on a project that will deliver real stories from real people. A. Smith & Co.
