“TSRA and the TSRA Foundation are proud to support FFA shooting sports teams statewide,” says Texas State Rifle Association Foundation Operations Coordinator Angela Gerlich. “Over the past three years, I have been honored to work with this amazing group of students and coaches. They truly live up to the FFA motto of ‘Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve.’ It is wonderful to see our Texas youth taking part in wildlife education and management, supporting the Second Amendment, and growing into the next generation of civic leaders.”
The state tournament is a partnered project between TSRA Foundation and TPWD’s Texas Ag Science – Clay Target Shooting Project. Schools who have incorporated the Wildlife, Fisheries, and Ecology Management curriculum with students active in shooting sports are invited annually to compete in this event. The curriculum is designed to enhance the Ecology Management portion of this course by developing personal skills that may be carried on throughout a lifetime of enjoyment of the outdoors.
The TSRA Foundation is awarding a total of $5,000 to the winning teams for their trap and sporting clays achievements.
All of the teams have requested their winnings be donated to their respective MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment accounts to help their teams to have a secure financial future.
