Folks traveling northbound on the 15 Freeway in Corona, California, Christmas night got an unexpected surprise from a Caltrans sign, which had apparently been hacked by someone who supports Donald Trump.
Instead of the typical safety or otherwise informative message, the sign displayed, “Inland Empire supports Donald Trump. Merry Xmas. Vote Donald Trump.”
The Riverside County Transportation Commission confirmed that the message was, in fact, a mistake, or rather a prank, not one approved by the commission to be posted.
“Someone accessed the message sign. Hacked into the message and changed it for their own purposes,” explained Anne Mayer with the commission.
One Corona couple, Nikki and Dann Worden, was so ammused by the sign, that they turned around so they could pass it again and get a recording of the illuminated prank. The couple posted the video to Facebook, where it has since been viewed over half a million times.
It isn’t known how long the pro-Trump sign stood standing, but by the following morning it was back to business as usual.
