The testing officer from Oregon thought the shoulder straps and back were well-padded in the areas where pressure from the weight of the pack could be felt. As for durability, he put the pack through a test where he “weighed the pack down with about 50 pounds, cinched the straps down tight and tried to get the bag to fail or fall apart. The stitching held together, as did the base of the pack. The cargo cinch straps, inside and outside, helped to keep the load in the pack from shifting, taking some stress off the shoulders and keeping the pack more stable.”
“One of the first things I noticed about this pack was the quality of the construction,” remarked the testing officer from Wisconsin. He continued, “This pack is also equipped with a water hydration bladder and hole underneath the handle for the hydration tube.” He was also impressed with the amount of storage and various compartments available and thought the overall design, quality and size of the bag were excellent.
This easily customizable pack includes several new features for Gen 2, including a reinforced padded handle, loop for ID patches and a new foam pad design in the back. Highly comfortable padded shoulder straps, a quick release waist belt and a durable tarpaulin bottom material were employed for use in adverse conditions. The SAP2-G2 also features two large storage compartments and two zipper pulls on the main compartment for easy access to the inside of the bag. The pack also features two external pockets designed to fit water bottles, as well as a compartment for carrying a hydration bladder and an opening at the top of the bag for the hydration tube. Four external side compression straps help bear the load and avoid any additional stress on the zippers. The SAP2-G2 is available in Black, Coyote Tan and OD Green. MSRP $184.
