A Topeka man was indicted last Wednesday on charges of brandishing a firearm while robbing a McDonald’s restaurant.
According to a Justice Department news release, 30-year-old Brendon R. Thompson has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during the robbery.
The indictment alleges Thompson threatened employees with a gun when he robbed a Topeka McDonald’s on July 19.
If convicted, Thompson could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the robbery charge, and not less than seven years and a fine up to $250,000 on the gun charge.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Topeka Police Department investigated the case.
