A Chicago thrift store worker was fatally shot Friday after a gun fell out of a donated sock and discharged into her chest.
Maria Carmen Dominguez, 54, was sorting through donated items inside Unique Thrift Store with a co-worker when a .22-caliber pistol fell out of a sock. The co-worker fumbled for the gun as it fell and accidentally fired a single, fatal round, NBC Chicago reports.
“It’s tragic,” said Dominguez’s husband, Victor Campos. “We don’t know what we are going to do.
After investigating the scene and viewing the video from security cameras, police determined the incident was an accident.
