Words of Wisdom:

“Self defense is a primary law of nature, which no subsequent law of society can abolish; the immediate gift of the Creator, obliges everyone to resist the first approaches of tyranny.” ~Elbridge Gerry

Calling the Shots:

  • CA Fish and Game is implementing the lead ruling early

    • The fight against traditional ammunition continues in California where the debate on the merits of a lead ammunition ban was short circuited by legislation.
  • MN second most popular HS sport? Trap shooting!

    • Trap shooting is a rapidly growing High School sport in Minnesota, which happens to be where John and Mike grew up.  It’s popularity has even surpassed basketball, the most common sport to rank second in popularity.
  • Armed Citizens are a good thing.

    • Police Officer Adam Eller was aided by an Armed Citizen, after the Eller was attacked by a burglary suspect.  The suspect had gained control of the Eller’s baton and started beating him with it when a witness intervened, his firearm drawn, to tell the suspect to cease his assault.  Officer Eller is expected to make a full recovery.
  • Guess Who is in the News… again

    • It seems that trouble will keep finding George Zimmerman, and the media will breathlessly report it every time.  We are glad to hear that no one was gravely injured.

Simon Says Train Diversity Shoots

Tony Simon of Simon Says Train joins us this week to talk about the Diversity Shoots that he has organized.  Tony tells us about his motivation to get involved and start these shooting meetups.  He also talks about the logistical challenges he has faced and the individuals and groups that have helped him overcome the challenges.  The next meetup is going to be June 25th at 6PM and will be held at Gun for Hire’s Woodland Park Range.  This next meetup will be the third.  We learn that each event has had greater attendance than the previous one.  If interested in joining Tony on his shoots, visit his Facebook event page here.

We also talk briefly with Tony about the review he wrote on a Hi-Point .40SW that you can find here.  He includes a video of his shooting with it at 100 yards.  While he notes that it probably isn’t a good choice for concealed carry and that there are issues with the magazines, as shipped, that this firearm can be a workable solution for the prospective gun owner on a budget.
