A pandamonium inducing podcast of pandemic proportions

Words of Wisdom:
“I am thus far a Quaker, that I would gladly argue with all the world to lay aside the use of arms and settle matters by negotiation, but unless the whole will, the matter ends, and I take up my musket and thank Heaven He has put it in my power.” ~Thomas Paine
Calling the Shots:
-
OK Gov Vetoes Pro-gun legislation
- Legislation that would have protected legal concealed firearms carry in public space was vetoed, due to misinformation from a flawed legal analysis of the bill.
-
Bloomberg to create his own Everytown News media outlet…
- We all agree that Bloomberg just isn’t able to get his message out via major media… right?
-
Obama Administration Opposes Surplus 1911 Sales
- This piece inspired John to repurpose a “hand signal” that represents this Obama “shocker”, which conveys a sense of what gun control advocates seek for law abiding gun owners.
-
Stupid News Article
- The author there claims that American have demonstrated that our culture and guns don’t mix, we obviously disagree.
Pandemonium ensues in Texas
This week we saw a motorcycle event devolve into chaos. Police were already on the scene as an altercation developed. Gun banners are jumped on the news immediately to call for more control in Texas, in particular that Texas not pass open carry. It seems one of the groups involved is the Bandidos, who apparently are known by law enforcement to be drug traffickers. Which leads us to ask, where is the Federal Meth Licensee who isn’t doing their background check?
Chris Christie on the Second Amendment
Get a load of this!
.@ChrisChristie: “I think most folks would be pretty happy with the actions that I’ve taken from a Second Amendment perspective.” #KellyFile
— Megyn Kelly (@megynkelly) May 19, 2015
Chris Christie has done the bare minimum for the Second Amendment, if that. The only times Christie has acted have been in the face of overwhelming public outcry. With Brian Aitken and Shaneen Allen, the cases had become national news media events. In the case of the vetoes he issued, hundreds of gun owners attended each of the hearings to display their opposition. We also bore witness to the outright violation of our legislature’s rules for the purpose of passing anti-gun legislation that the leadership wanted. Signing those bills would have made Christie complicit in the legislature’s misuse of power.
This week Christie also told how “You can’t enjoy your civil liberties in a coffin.”, while discusses the renewal of parts of the patriot act. So much for leaders in the vain of Patrick Henry and our founding fathers.
Stephen Sweeney on NJ 101.5
Some great radio this week from Dennis and Judy. Discussing a bill that would decriminalize pumping your own gas (you read that right), Dennis and Judy were very critical of Stephen Sweeney’s decision to block the bill. When Stephen called in to the show, they had the opportunity to ask him about it. Judy did pretty well trying to get a straight answer, but Dennis provided the spark to the segment. Calling Sweeney a tyrant, Dennis excoriated him for how he has conducted business in the state Senate. Unfortunately the name calling distracted from Sweeney’s deflecting from the main problem, which is that he is blocking legislation for no reason other than he doesn’t think it is a priority. Since Sweeney blocks things that aren’t priorties, Matt Rooney at the Save Jersey Blog notes some things that must be on the list:
- State regulations for breast milk banks
- regulations for pig crating farms (of which there are zero, in New Jersey)
- banning bestiality
- a non-binding resolution condemning the Exxon settlement
Good to know that we have so much great stuff happening in Trenton.
