Words of Wisdom:

“One cannot legislate the maniacs off the street… these maniacs can only be shut down by an armed citizenry. Indeed bad things can happen in nations where the citizenry is armed, but not as bad as those which seem to be threatening our disarmed citizenry in this country at this time.” – Col. Jeff Cooper

Calling the Shots:

President in podcast

  • The President of the United States appeared in a podcast, reportedly for the first time.  He took the opportunity to express his regret for not having been more successful in rolling out gun control.

65% of the time, every time!

  • 65 out of 100 Americans Prefer to live near gun owners!  In addition, 64% say that it would be bad if only the government had access to firearms.

 Arys Daniela Interview

We take the time to learn more about Arys Daniela, a firearms trainer in New Jersey.  Arys has been into shooting since her time serving in the United States Marine Corps.  She served as an ammo tech, and as a result, was able to spend a decent amount of time on the range.  We asked Arys what her favorite firearm is, and she responded with the one that she best remembers (a Desert Eagle .50).  As a trainer, she appears to be spending much of her time developing her teaching skills.  Arys told us that it was much different teaching people outside the Marine Corps and disciplining herself to use the preferred terminology.  She likes to focus her training classes toward new shooters.  She feels that it is important for women to learn to use firearms and she works to eliminate some of the perceptions of her clients.  In fact, she mentioned how one of her clients overcame significant fear of firearms to now having a large collection.

Customs & Border Patrol receives Blackhawks

Apparently a Mexican cartel was shooting at law enforcement helicopter, and forced it to land.

“Our lives are at great risk and political forces often attempt to portray the border areas as safe and okay. Clearly they are not safe and this is a moment where the actions of CBP management have placed the safety of agents above the feelings of the Mexican government.” – Hector Garza, president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 2455

There have long been problems along the US & Mexican border.  John thinks of Brian Terry, an agent that was likely killed by guns moved under Fast and Furious.  Arys adds that the problems aren’t just along the border but throughout Mexico.  She visits there regularly and mentions how people have to fear being jailed for simply having a knife with them.

Save the date: October 3rd.

The New Jersey Second Amendment and Firearms Education conference is being organized.  There will be more details in future episodes, but keep that calendar clear.

Thanks so much to Arys for joining us this episode!  You can find her on Facebook, Instagram, or her website.
