New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- Lost cameras, missing camp gear, a fickle outboard motor, remote vastness and conditions would force most television producers to quit.

But not renowned outdoorsman for the DIY hunter, Randy Newberg, as he heads to southeast Alaska for a challenging bear hunt on this week’s Federal Premium’s Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg, airing exclusively on Sportsman Channel on Thursday, October 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Newberg and his crew find themselves in a predicament when 80 percent of their production equipment and most of their camping gear – like sleeping bags – don’t arrive with them in southeast Alaska. With only two cameras (usually eight), they buy new gear and head out to the shallow tide flats to find Alaskan bruins.

“This might sound strange, but I pretty much expected this final episode of the season to start out with some sort of glitch,” said Newberg. “Doing what we do is all about overcoming obstacles – manmade or otherwise.”

Since Alaskan game laws don’t allow hunters to hunt on the same day they fly into camp, Newberg is unable to set out until the following day, which turns into a day of mixing motors and spotting absolutely nothing. Fortunately, on day three, he spots his first bear, but the wind is all wrong. As Newberg is debating how to cover the ground to access the bear easier and not spook him, his crew spots a small, black spot off in the distance.

Finally, could “lady luck” be smiling on Newberg? Since he’s downwind from this bruin, he takes off for the stalk. Viewers will have to tune in to see if Newberg’s sheer determination will earn him an Alaskan bear.

Federal Premium’s Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg takes the same self-guided public land story – that viewers have come to love with from his award-winning series, On Your Own Adventures – and tells it in a deeper “behind the scenes” format.
