Doylestown, Pa. (Ammoland.com) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is pleased to announce the fall edition of The Tactical Edge is now available. Widely considered to be the leading authority in tactical operations information, The Tactical Edge reaches over 60,000 law enforcement officers from over 8,000 agencies and divisions.

Featured in this issue is Phil Hansen’s “Values-Driven Leadership in Difficult Times.” In this article, Hansen discusses how it is essential to provide sound leadership and a sense of cohesiveness, even when law enforcement is figuratively and literally under attack, to develop the bonds that bind by shared common values.

Members-only features include Don Alwes’ “Contemporary Active Shooter Instructors” and Dr. Michael Asken’s “Teaming Up to Mitigate Groupthink in Negotiations and Tactical Operations.” Also featured is “Interaction Between Police Tactical and Hostage Teams at Critical Incidents,” by Jack Cambria. The NTOA has also made several articles available online to non-members, including “Review of Mass Shooting Events Supports Current Trauma Management Guidelines” by Kevin B. Gerold and Mark E.  Gibbons. The article focuses on explaining the findings of the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery’s March 2016 published research results and is of particular interest for TEMS providers.

Other items of interest are the director’s message by Mark Lomax; an interview with Eugene P. Ramirez, founding partner of the law firm Manning & Kass, Ellrod, Ramirez, Trester LLP, in which he discusses what SWAT operators need to know from a legal perspective and the role he has played in shaping law enforcement tactics over the last two decades; and a look back at the 2016 NTOA Tactical Operations Conference and Trade Show.

The Tactical Edge has been providing the law enforcement community with cutting edge, lifesaving information from leading experts for more than 30 years and is the winner of multiple awards, including the 2006 American In-House Design Award from Graphic Design USA and the 2013 APEX Award for Publication Excellence from Communications Concepts. It is published quarterly in February, May, August and November.
