Course of Fire: By John Harrington
Shiner, Texas –-(Ammoland.com)- We often can forget that we as shooters are part of a community.
Our pastime is more than just a hobby, it is an American tradition. A tradition that is attacked daily by those who do not understand it and who wish to see it become a thing of the past.
Like any community, ours is dependent upon growth for survival.
The best way to grow our community, thereby ensuring it is passed down for the next generation, is to get people involved, or make converts if you will.
If you’re like me, you’ve found that people’s attitudes toward shooting and firearms improves dramatically with education and understanding. It can also deteriorate irretrievably with just one bad experience. Every trip to the range with a new shooter shapes our community and by extension, our future, not just as shooters but possibly as a free People.
Fellow shooters and patriots, never waste an opportunity to proselytize and never fail to do it safely, for this is how converts are won! My challenge to you is this, if you have not taken a safety course (NRA Range Safety Officer is a really good one), do so and make it a goal to take one new person shooting every month.
If each of us do this diligently, think of how fast we can finally put this gun grabbing nonsense behind us.
May your week be filled with family, fun and gratitude.

Shield Tactical is a family business. Though we are not all related by blood, the bond of 2nd ammendment supporters is just as strong. My name is John W. Harrington and I am the president and founder of Shield Tactical. I have been involved in student based firearm instruction for over ten years. Over that period of time, my philosophy has been simple – make it about the shooter. Every member of our team has heard me say (more than they care to count) “People don’t come to us to hear about how great we are or what we have done, they come to us for what we can do for them”.
