Texas State and Gulf Coast Regional Duck Calling Contests
Katy, Texas –-(AmmoLand.com)- Newell Cheatheam of Katy, Texas, Contest Chairman for the Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest since 2001 announces the Texas State & Gulf Coast Regional Duck Calling Contests is on Saturday April 17th, 2010 at metal building meeting hall on 3622 County Rd, Buffalo, TX 75831.
The Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest and Gulf Coast Regional Duck Calling Contests are the premier sanctioned calling events in Texas, Gulf Coast and United States. Contestant Check-in 8:00 -8:45 A.M. with Texas State starting at 9:00 A.M.
The Gulf Coast will be right after the Texas State, which will be contestants from 3 or more states. The contests attract participants from all across Texas and Gulf Coast. The public is invited to come support your favorite caller.
The judges are normally former world champions, world champion qualifiers and or other outdoorsman. Previous contest judges have been Jim Ronquest, John Stephens, and Daniel Duke of R-N-Tone Calls; Rob Watts, Brandon Sinkey, and Rick Dune of Echo-Calls, other top champion duck callers and outdoorsman.
The contests will be held in conjunction with the Guns, Cash & Crawfish Extravaganza, and other activities all day. Guns, Cash & Crawfish Extravaganza are $40.00 per person with age 17 and under free. Both calling contests will have prizes of: 1st Place $500.00, 2nd Place Gun Raffle Tickets, 3rd Place – Gun Raffle tickets and or other prizes. The Guns, Cash & Crawfish Extravaganza normally attracts 400-600 attendees.
Clint Parker Johnson of Ravenna, Tx was the Texas State Champion Caller in 2008 and 2009 and went on to place 17th in 2009 World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest. He challenges callers from all across Texas
to strut you’re calling skills and have a chance to compete in the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest with over $30,000 in cash and prizes.
The World Championship Calling Contest Committee sanctions the contest, with the winner moving on to Stuttgart, Arkansas to represent the State of Texas and Gulf Coast in the World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest to be held November 27, 2010.
Contestants must have attained the age of seventeen (17) years as of the hour of contest for the Texas State and Gulf Coast Regional. Entry forms can be down loaded off www.stuttgartarkansas.org or www.TexasStateDuckCallingContest.com .
Schedules of other contests across the country and winners can be seen at www.callingducks.com. Contestant entry fee is $60 each contest or $100 for both contests (includes dinner and chance to win door prizes) paid at same time. World’s Championship Duck Calling rules will be observed at all times. Pre-registration is encouraged, but you can also register on site for the contests.
Leon County Delta Waterfowl Committee is raffling 25 guns and $10,000 cash raffles (money based on minimum of 400 people) after dinner. Crawfish by Crazy Cajun Cookers at 6:30 p.m.
