A Tennessee woman shot her boyfriend when he allegedly attacked and choked her after leaving a club on Beale Street in Memphis early Sunday morning, local media reported.
According to the police report, Barry Dandridge is being charged with aggravated assault after allegedly grabbing the woman by her neck and slamming her onto the floor, Fox News 6 reported.
The woman, who has not been identified, reached for a gun that was stashed underneath the couch and put it in her purse. When Dandridge reportedly attacked her again, she shot him. Dandridge was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition, Fox reported.
Investigators told Fox News the woman had visible bruising on her neck, chest and head. She was detained by police and no charges have been filed against her, Fox reported.
The shooting occurred in the 900 block of Eldridge Avenue, then the woman drove to the 1600 block of Delano Avenue to call police, WMC News 5 reported.
