A 16-year-old boy had a gun stolen from him outside of a Cleveland gas station Monday afternoon, but not before the robber shot him in the leg.
The teen, whose name was not released, was treated and released from a local hospital. He reportedly told police it was the third time he’s been shot in the last two years.
The teen said he was standing outside of a Shell station when the suspect approached him and grabbed the gun, which the teen was carrying in his right pocket. The teen, who is blind in one eye, said he never saw the robber coming and isn’t sure how he even knew there was a gun in his pocket.
The two struggled briefly, during which time the suspect pulled the trigger while the gun was still in the teen’s pocket. The teen was struck in the thigh and fell to the ground.
The suspect was able to get the gun from the teen, then fled from the scene.
The teen, who is expected to be okay, told police he did not know the suspect but also said he found the gun by a nearby housing complex.
