Teen shoots himself in the head while playing Russian Roulette (VIDEO)

1431907864774A 19-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition after he shot himself in the head Friday evening while playing a game of Russian Roulette with three friends.

The teens told authorities that while sitting in a vehicle outside of a supermarket in Sydney, Australia, Josh Taylor put the barrel of a Smith & Wesson revolver to his temple and pulled the trigger. The revolver had been loaded with a single bullet and the first pull of the trigger sent the bullet straight into Taylor’s head, just above his ear.

Detective Inspector Gary Sims said that after speaking with the other teens involved, authorities believe the injury was the result of “some form of misadventure, rather than a targeted criminal act.”

“It’s a tragic incident,” Sims added. “We feel for the young man, we feel for his family, we feel for the people there at the time.”

Adding further frustration to an already difficult situation, Taylor’s family apparently learned of the incident on Facebook.

Sims said there have been a number of comments left that are hurtful to the family.

“We ask people to consider the fact that there is a family with a great deal of stress at the moment,” Sims said. “The key message police are asking is for people to show restraint, respect and courtesy.”

Sims said in his 30 years of law enforcement service, he has never come across a case involving a game of Russian Roulette.
