Teen girl shot with real gun during water gun fight (VIDEO)

A family gathering at a home in Spring, Texas, Saturday afternoon ended with a 15-year-old girl in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound accidentally inflicted by a family friend.

The family was apparently engaged in a friendly water gun fight when the 40-year-old man went to his car to retrieve dry clothes. The man had a 9mm handgun in his car and was showing it to the teen girl when the accident occurred.

“When he went to holster it he was spinning it on his finger, he pulled the trigger and accidentally shot her,” said neighbor Lawrence Martinez, who witnessed the shooting.

The girl was shot about an inch from her neck and a bullet struck a car parked several houses down.

A man at the home where the shooting occurred identified the girl as his niece. He did not wish to talk to reporters, but confirmed the girl is going to be okay. The hospital last listed her in stable condition and she is expected to recover.

No charges have been filed at this time, but Lt. Daniel Garza with the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 4, said although the shooting appeared to be accidental, the man could be charged with deadly conduct.
