Team SIG Captain Max Michel Captures Fourth Consecutive Florida Open Shooting Title
EXETER, NH –-(Ammoland.com)- Max Michel, captain of Team SIG, opened the 2011 competitive shooting season Sunday by winning his fourth consecutive Florida Open title.
“It always feels good to get back into the routine and compete at a high level,” Michel said.
“The Florida Open has top-notch competitors and helps set the tone for the rest of the season. Frank Garcia and his Universal Shooting Academy staff run an outstanding tournament.”
Held Feb. 18-20 in Frostproof, Fla., the 13th annual competition registered more than 400 entries, including top shooters from around the world. Michel amassed 1517.4876 points on his way to the Open Division and overall title.
“The match was extremely challenging and very technical,” Michel said. “It’s probably one of the most technical matches I have shot in a while. There were many times where shooting became secondary and remembering where targets were and how to activate props became the primary focus.”
Next up for Michel will be the U.S. Steel Nationals in Titusville, Fla., April 14-16.
