ONTARIO, Calif. –-(Ammoland.com)- Safariland, a brand of The Safariland Group, applauds Safariland Team members Rob Leatham for earning the title of “Top Open Senior National” at the 2017 USPSA Sig Sauer Optics National Championship in Frostproof, Fla., March 23 – 27, and Maggie Reese for her High Lady Champion win at the 2017 Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun, March 24 – 26 in Mesa, Ariz.
Leatham’s winning score was 2005.7-points with 327.6-seconds of shooting. Last year, he qualified to compete in the USPSA Senior Division, and since then, has won top senior national titles in USPSA divisions, including Carry Optics, Limited, Limited 10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack.
“This was one of the most difficult courses of fire in many years with a lot of movement and plenty of far, hard shots,” said Leatham. “My reliable Safariland ELS rig with the 014 race holster was key to my performance and ultimate outcome. The fact that I survived for nearly 40 years in a sport that is based on speed and agility, is, more than anything else, really a testament of determination and confidence in myself and my equipment.”
Reese won the Open Division at the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun, one of the longest running three-gun matches in the country, competing in 11 stages that incorporated rifles, pistols and shotguns with approximately 350 competitors. She previously won this competition in 2009, 2010 and 2014.
“I trust Safariland products one hundred percent to keep my pistol and extra ammunition secure as I navigate through each stage,” said Reese. “With the multiple stages in this competition, it is so important to have reliable gear, and combined with the support of The Safariland Group, I am able to achieve my goals.”
“We are proud to have Maggie as one of our newest professional Team Safariland members,” said Scott Carnahan, vice president of the equipment category at Safariland. “Rob and Maggie’s determination to be the best at what they do embody the value of our brand. We congratulate them on their achievements and look forward to many more wins.”
Leatham competed in the 2017 USPSA Sig Sauer Optics National Championship with the Safariland ELS System with a Model 014 Open Class Competition Holster and 771 magazine pouches.
