Tactical Fire Control, Inc., or just Tac-Con, operating out of Phoenix, Ariz., teased the shooting world with their innovative and very interesting 3MR fire control unit for AR-type rifles recently, and is now announcing that they are ready to take pre-orders for them.
A new company, Tac-Con has developed a fire control group that’s nothing short of groundbreaking, particularly in the legal sense. They have developed a “Positive Reset” trigger that resets using energy from the bolt. The 3MR trigger will reset even if there is tension on the it, which makes it one very fast trigger.
The 3MR has three positions, safe, fire and “3rd Mode.” Safe and fire work like any other semi-automatic fire control group. It’s the third position, 3rd Mode that has the powered reset. It’s not a bump-fire trigger which promises ease of control and improved accuracy when shooting long strings.
“A revolutionary new innovation featuring safe, controlled, match-grade performance with blistering semi-automatic operation,” explained Tac-Con in a press release. “Tac-Con is American owned and its products are 100% made in the USA.
“The Tac-Con 3MR Trigger System is a drop-in, 3-mode fire control system consisting of Safe, match-grade Semi-Automatic, and the Tac-Con patented 3rd Mode of operation.
“The 3rd mode provides a positive reset that dramatically reduces the split times between shots. The positive reset characteristic is achieved by transferring the force from the bolt carrier through the trigger assembly to assist the trigger back onto the front sear.”
Because the 3MR still only fires once for each pull of the trigger it is not regulated under the NFA and each Tac-Con fire control group will ship with a copy of the BATFE approval letter. The 3MR is an ATF-sanctioned fun button, and Tac-Con is sure to sell them as fast as they can make them.
Those interested in owning a 3MR fire control group can place their pre-orders on the Tac-Con website.
The 3MR fire control group has an introductory price of $495, which is a couple hundred dollars more than many premium trigger groups, but considering the added functionality, is still very competitive.
Tac-Con is advertising the 3MR as a match-grade trigger and states it has a crisp, 4.5-pound break with zero take-up and no over-travel, which is comparable to many tactical competition triggers, which can easily cost $300 or more.
There is no doubting that if this works as advertised, it will be the hot AR product of 2014. More information can be found on the product page.
“Tac-Con 3MR trigger systems are crafted from the finest materials using Full EDM and CNC manufacturing technology. All components are coated with NP3 (nickel teflon) to ensure years of dependable service. Each 3MR trigger system is individually hand-tested for quality, pull weight and function prior to shipping and feature a Limited Lifetime Warranty.”
