Suspects assault veteran, steal his service dog (VIDEO)

Authorities in New York are asking for the public’s help locating two suspects who assaulted a U.S. Army veteran then stole his service dog last Sunday outside of the man’s apartment in the Bronx.

Robert Lebron was on a walk with his wife and service dog, Mala, when he was attacked by two men. One punched him repeatedly in the head, which caused him to fall down the stairs, while the second man grabbed Mala’s leash.

The incident was captured on surveillance video and one of the suspects – although not yet in custody – has been identified as Brian Cohen, the ex-boyfriend of Lebron’s wife.

Lebron, who struggled with PTSD after serving as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan, was not seriously injured in the attack, but he said he needs his dog back.

“What she gives me I can’t get from someone else: not a therapist or a family member or my friend,” Lebron said.
