A 35-year-old man was arrested last week after he attempted to rob a liquor store in Beaumont, Texas, only to get shot by the store owner.
When police arrived on the scene shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, they found Arthur Thomas, 35, in the parking lot of Gulf Street Liquor Store. Thomas was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the lower torso, although his injuries were believed to be non life-threatening.
The store owner told authorities Thomas, who the owner said appeared to be drunk, entered the store and demanded money, then ran out of the store after the owner shot him.
Thomas was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be PCP. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities said robbery charges were forthcoming.
