The pursuit of a man wanted for a riding a bicycle without a light in Lehigh Acres, Florida, ended with a Lee County Sheriff’s deputy shooting a Pitbull.
When deputies first noticed the man on the bicycle outside of a local Dollar General and attempted to stop him, he fled from authorities, prompting a manhunt which included a K-9 unit and a helicopter.
But the K-9 was attacked by a Pitbull while authorities searched a wooded area. As a result, deputies shot the Pitbull. However, the Pitbull’s owner, Michael Rivera, told reporters that, although the dog wasn’t on a leash, he was on the man’s private property.
Both dogs are expected to survive, and the suspect was never apprehended.
