Authorities released surveillance video from a Chandler, Arizona, Walmart this week showing what was described as an ambush attack on two officers that left the suspect dead.
The incident occurred back in April shortly after Officer Joshua Pueblo entered the store around 6:21 a.m. for what appeared to be a routine, non-emergency call to assist Officer Daniel Colwell with a trespasser. But shortly after Pueblo entered the store, the suspect, Mitchell Oakley, opened fire on the officers.
Two bullets struck Colwell in the chest and, although his bulletproof vest absorbed the impact, the force was great enough to knock him over. Pueblo was shot in the face but miraculously survived.
Colwell was able to fire back, fatally striking Oakley.
