Streamlight, of Pennsylvania, just announced an innovative new addition to its ProTac series of tactical flashlights.

The ProTac 1L-1AA is a very compact light at 4.25 inches in length and less than three ounces in weight. With a pen clip to keep it indexed in a pocket, it’s ideal for everyday carry.

Size isn’t the only thing the new ProTac has going on. It’s dual-fuel, too. It’ll run on either a single CR123A battery, one AA lithium battery, or one AA alkaline battery.

The little light has big output. Its C4 LED produces up to 350 lumens reaching as far as 160 meters, with a runtime of 90 minutes, when powered by a CR123A battery.

On the low setting and with a CR123A on board, the ProTac 1L-1AA puts out 40 lumens, shining up to 50 meters, with a run time of up to 14 hours.

On a AA battery of any type, the light generates 150 lumens lighting up 105 meters on the high setting, with a run time of 80 minutes with an alkaline AA battery, or up to 4 hours, 15 minutes with AA lithium power source.

Like others in the ProTac series, the 1L-1AA has a tail cap pressure switch for easy on/off. There are three lighting settings: low, high, and strobe. The flashlight can be programmed by the user to start at any one of those three settings when powered on.

“The combination of its size, output and battery versatility makes its one of the brightest and most versatile everyday carry lights available,” Michael F. Dineen Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, said. “It’s ideal for tactical, military, outdoor and other users when conducting maneuvers or search operations, or performing other tasks under low-light conditions.”

It’s a tough light, too, with the hull made from 6000 series machined aluminum with a black anodized finish. It also has a high temperature, impact-resistant Boro Float glass lens. It’s impact resistant to at least two meters.

The light will even keep working under a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

A light holster is included with purchase. MSRP is $68.00. The 1L-1AA has the coverage of Streamlight’s limited warranty program.
