Columbus, OH –-(Ammoland.com)- Independence Day marks the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which was the defining document outlining our great country’s separation from England.

The signing of this historic document was the pinnacle of more than a decade’s worth of struggle to gain freedom from King George III, and the bloody battles that preceded and followed represented the ultimate price paid for the freedoms we enjoy today.

The fight for freedom did not end with the Revolutionary War, and as a country we learned that the fight to protect our freedoms is one that never ends. This is certainly true for sportsmen as we have to fight every day for our freedom to hunt, trap and fish.

The ability to enjoy outdoor sports is ours because people fought for them, and these battles continue today in our communities, court rooms, and within our government. The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance has been fighting in all of these arenas with our allies for the last 35 years, and each year winning the battles gets tougher.

Still, we will not back down!

While celebrating our country’s independence next week, take a few moments to also consider the hard work being done each day to protect our hunting, fishing and trapping heritage. The voices of sportsmen must be heard so that our great outdoor traditions can be passed on to future generations.

The time to join the fight is now. https://www.ussportsmen.org/join/
