When Carone was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, doctors gave him an 18 percent chance to live past one year. Though Carone’s lungs struggle in the high-altitude air, he will work to maintain his strength and determination on a hunt for ram in the Yukon. He relies on his ability to persevere and his guide, Jessica, who is intent on scouring the hillsides for a mature harvest.

Also this week, Hall’s hunt continues in the Northwest Territories. He is ready to find the band of sheep he and his guide had seen the night before. But sheep move quickly, and the team will have to hike a few miles before any sign of the animal emerges. When the men finally confirm they have spotted the ram from the previous night, Hall must work to maintain his patience, as the sheep are at least a three-mile hike from his current location.

“The previous night we’d gone to bed with a location on the rams, but it was too late to get down the mountain after them,” explained Hall. “The next day we were hoping they’d be bedded down in same area, but we just didn’t see them.”
