The marathon will showcase great hunting and fishing opportunities in America including: whitetails in Big Sky country, an all-encompassing fishing trip to Sportsman’s Paradise in Louisiana and a big game hunt in the plains of Kansas. The Marathon chronicles hard-working men and women who share a passion for outdoor adventures and are focused on creating quality American-made products.  Throughout Sportsman Channel’s Brotherhood Outdoors Labor Day Marathon hosts Julie and Daniel Lee will appear in-between each program to showcase American-made products and the workers behind them. Companies featured are Remington, Carhartt, Triton Boats, St. Croix Rods and Buck Knives.

“The Brotherhood Outdoors marathon on Sportsman Channel will hammer home the connection of hard-working American union workers and their passion for the outdoors,” said Mitch Petrie, vice president of programming at Sportsman Channel. “Brotherhood Outdoors also shines a light on family life and the traditions of hunting and fishing in the United States that play a part in young people’s lives.”

“Labor Day was, and is, a day set aside to honor all the hardworking Americans who help build this great country,” said USA CEO and Executive Director Fred Myers. “We are excited to once again partner with Sportsman Channel to salute American workers and some of the tried and true products they are still making here in the U.S. through a Brotherhood Outdoors Labor Day Marathon.”

The following is the marathon schedule for September 7 programming (all times listed ET):

5 p.m.          Stephen Lefaver, who has had to negotiate his hunting experiences through the crowded public lands in the Chicago suburbs, is beyond excited to hunt whitetail in Big Sky Country with Brotherhood Outdoors and Bearpaw Outfitters, which has a nearly unheard of success rate.

5:30 p.m.   Chumming, cutting bait, spotting fish, enticing tuna away from shrimp boats, spot fishing from a kayak and reeling in cobia, red snapper, redfish, trout and tuna…it’s all in three-days work for Eric Patrick, a union electrical worker (IBEW Local 196) for his dream fishing trip to Venice, Louisiana.

6:00 p.m.   Michael McShane, an IAFF fire fighter, travels from the Maine woods to the Arizona desert to meet Daniel Lee and Julie and put his bow to the test on mule deer, coues deer and javelina.  For more than 10 years, Michael saved his change and then dollars in a six-gallon water jug for a hunting trip of a lifetime until, like a bad dream, it was stolen.  Catch the action as Brotherhood Outdoors steps in to thank this hardworking fireman and dedicated volunteer for his tireless service by “refilling his water jug” with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

6:30 p.m.   After connecting several years ago during an online web forum, this episode brings together Mike Higgins, quiet steelworker from Maine, and Mike “Big Bird” Strickland, a boisterous sheet metal worker from Georgia, for an unforgettable…and frigid steelhead fishing adventure with Daniel Lee and Julie.

7:00 p.m.   Confronting Idaho’s steep terrain and high altitude, Gene Barnes—a union machinist (IAM Local 2781)—sets his sights on helping his 74-year-old father, Harlyn Barnes, harvest a bull elk in memory of his late son/brother and the cherished hunting trips the three shared together.

7:30 p.m.   A DIY hunter limited to small tracts of land that don’t hold deer well, Michigan union roofer Derek Carrington (Roofers Local 23) is over the moon when Brotherhood Outdoors takes him to Northeast Kansas to hunt thousands of acres of prime whitetail habitat with Tallgrass Outfitters.
