DENVER (Ammoland.com) – The state of whitetail deer is ever changing. Wildlife biologists and hunters must work together to keep whitetail populations thriving and the problems they face in check. In conjunction with Whitetail Properties, Sportsman Channel presents the second annual Whitetail State of the Union powered by John Deere, an in-depth, roundtable discussion addressing the current and future state of whitetail deer in the United States. Whitetail Properties State of the Union powered by John Deere airs Saturday, September 12 at 7 p.m. ET exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

Sportsman Channel’s Whitetail Properties continues to bring viewers top whitetail programming by gathering a panel of professional deer hunters, scientists, doctors and wildlife biologists to delve into the issues surrounding whitetail deer. The expert panel, moderated by Paul Sawyer, principle of Whitetail Properties Real Estate, will review hot topics including: whitetail population as a whole and in specific regions, whitetails’ problems with disease and predator control, what’s been done over the past year, as well as relative and cost effective solutions for the future.

This year’s panel of experts includes the following individuals and organizations:  Dr. Karl V. Miller, professor, wildlife ecology and management at the University of Georgia; Brian Murphy, CEO, Quality Deer Management Association; Dr. James Kroll, director, Institute for White-tailed Deer; Pat Hogan, producer, North American Whitetail and associate producer, North American Whitetail magazine; Dan Perez, principal of Whitetail Properties Real Estate; Paul Sawyer, principal of Whitetail Properties Real Estate and mediator; Bill Winke, outdoor writer; Craig Harper, professor, wildlife management at the University of Tennessee.

Viewers will gain insight into the problems facing whitetail deer populations, followed by a pundit panel discussion. The pundit panel will provide an overview of the important topics discussed throughout the special, ensuring viewers understand the role they serve in the conservation and protection of whitetail deer. Panel members include: Dr. Grant Woods, wildlife biologist; Jeff Propst, hunting community representative; Kip Adams, certified wildlife biologist; Gordon Whittington, editor of North American Whitetail magazine.
